The mathematical engine utilizes the following formulas to generate your aggregate and underlayment estimates:
Base Volume (cu yds) = Coverage Area × (Depth in inches ÷ 12) ÷ 27
Order Volume (cu yds) = Base Volume × (1 + (Waste % ÷ 100))
Total Weight (Tons) = Order Volume × Density Factor
Fabric Required = Coverage Area × 1.15 (Includes 15% seam overlap)
A note on transport logic: Standard tandem dump trucks hold approximately 14 to 16 tons of rip rap, while a tri-axle truck can legally haul roughly 20 to 22 tons depending on local DOT weight limits. Large rock classes (R-6, R-7) may dramatically reduce hauling capacity simply due to their bulk size preventing the dump bed from being safely fully loaded.
