Limestone Calculator
Calculate the exact tonnage and cubic yardage of crushed limestone needed for your project. Adjusts density automatically for clean stone (#57), dense graded base (#411), and screenings.

About this calculator
This Limestone Calculator allows landscapers and contractors to instantly convert volumetric project dimensions into orderable tonnage, adjusting density factors based on specific aggregate ASTM grades.
The mathematical engine utilizes the following formulas to generate your limestone estimate:
Base Volume (cu yds) = Coverage Area × (Finished Depth in inches ÷ 12) ÷ 27
Order Volume (cu yds) = Base Volume × (1 + (Waste/Compaction % ÷ 100))
Total Order Weight (Tons) = Order Volume × Density Factor (1.25 to 1.50)
A note on delivery minimums: While the calculator outputs exact tonnage, most quarries and landscape supply yards sell limestone by the full bucket (often 1 cubic yard) or have 2-ton to 3-ton minimum delivery requirements. Always round your order up to the nearest half-ton to avoid expensive short-load delivery fees.
